Couples Therapy

Do you feel like your relationship is stale, like you and your partner are just roomates, or are drifting apart?  Are you and your partner stuck in the same argument about nothing every day or have too much conflict? Do you desire more intimacy between you and your partner?

If you were planting flowers, would you water and feed them for the first few weeks but never again after that? We all start relationships with the effort needed to begin them to show that we care about each other however we often stop the effort after we "settle down", marry or have children. Human relationships (or intimate partner relationships) are much more complicated than flowers and are not automatic or maintenance free. Healthy intimate relationships only happen through ongoing effort. Healthy communication about individual and collective relationship needs takes work, and those needs (unlike flowers) are constantly changing.  No matter what type of relationship, in many cases I can help people to identify and break down the barriers to healthy communication and experience mutual understanding, empathy, and support that result in love and happiness.

Some common sources of problems for couple are :

  • Addictions/Partner Addiction Support
  • Partner Violence or control
  • Balance (Work/Life/Family)
  • Blended Families
  • Chronic Illness
  • Disagreement about parenting
  • Having children with special needs
  • Incompatible goals
  • Divorce
  • Finances and money
  • Extended Family concerns
  • Infidelity/Cheating
  • Mental Illness
  • Pre-Marital/Readiness
  • Pornography
  • Sex and sexual compatability

In my couple’s therapy sessions, I help people to develop the necessary skills needed to rekindle and maintain sustaining love.

If any of the above are thoughts you have about your relationship, contact me today to discuss how I may be able to help you to reconnect and overcome whatever challenges you are facing together.
